Job Description:Join our dynamic and innovative in-house marketing services team as a Print/Production Designer. Reporting to the Associate Director and Senior Designer, in a full-service print and mail center, the Print/Production Designer will help with print projects, assist with client and vendor management, and design other promotional efforts that align with the College's branding and strategic goals.

The ideal candidate will:

Be proficient in designing for print using Adobe software, primarily InDesign, Acrobat, and Illustrator. Express an understanding of the technical requirements of file preparation and print production processes. Have a keen eye for detail and a commitment to efficiency and organization are essential.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for both design and the technical aspects of production.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Creative:

Refresh marketing materials on an annual basis to keep the brand current and engaging.Assist with pre-press needs by supplying print-ready files, created from customer provided documents, to press technicians.Assist with typesetting for print projects.Create visually compelling and on-brand marketing materials, including but not limited to brochures, mailers, ads, and signage.Ensure all mail piece designs adhere to USPS regulations and stay abreast of changing policies.

Coordination/ Collaboration:

Adhere to production schedules to ensure timely delivery of publications and mailings.Coordinate with the team to streamline production workflows.Prepare artwork for approval and final printing, share proofs, making changes as needed.Address any client concerns or issues promptly and professionally and ensure clear and effective communication throughout the production process.Provide art to or assist in requesting bids from external vendors.Work closely with the marketing team to understand project objectives and requirements to deliver designs that effectively communicate our messages.Provide regular updates to the marketing team on production status and any potential issues.Assists in finishing work, customer service and other mail center tasks as part of the Print and Mail Services team.

Quality Control:

Inspect printed materials for accuracy, color consistency, and overall quality.Address any quality issues promptly and effectively.Works to maintain brand consistency across all mediums.

Requirements:REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum education, skills, and abilities:

Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field, or a minimum of 2 years of experience in print production and file preparation, preferably within a commercial print environment. Experience in coordinating and collaborating within a complex organization in a congenial manner with a service-oriented mindset. An ability to execute objectives and operational tactics to keep projects on the correct path and meet deadlines.

Strong portfolio showcasing creative print design solutions and a keen understanding of typography, color theory, and layout design. Thorough knowledge of Adobe Creative Suites, especially InDesign and Illustrator as well as Microsoft Office software. Strong time management skills with a proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously and the ability to meet deadlines. Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality with demonstrated organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently as well as collaborate effectively in a team environment.

Preferred education, skills, and abilities:

Knowledge of printing processes, equipment, and materials. Negotiation and vendor management experience. Knowledge of SUNY and Alfred State.

Additional Information:The salary for this position is set at $49,261
