Arthur Manigault, a successful rice planter, formed the Evening Post Publishing Company in 1896 to acquire the Charleston Courier which began publication in 1803.
It has remained a family-owned, independently held media company ever since. In the 1990’s The Post and Courier’s parent company Evening Post Publishing, Inc. began purchasing community newspapers across the state of South Carolina which laid the groundwork for a unified state-wide media company.
The cornerstone of every newspaper we own is a dedication to transparent, engaging and solutions-based journalism written by experienced reporters who live and work in the communities they serve.
